A primary school in Cardiff which is the only Church in Wales (CIW)
school with a majority of Muslim pupils has been deemed “excellent” by
inspectors.
St Mary The Virgin CIW Primary School, which serves the Butetown
area of the city, was judged to have has 181 pupils on roll – 90% of who
come from an ethnic minority background and 73% which speak as an
additional language.
Many are from Yemeni and Somali backgrounds and some start school with no English at all.
